Building families and community

Foothills Midwifery began with the early collaboration between our founding midwife Marie Wilkinson and the family practice physicians in High River Hospital around the year 2006 – and it is from the seeds of this early working relationship that Alberta’s only fully collaborative and integrated midwife and physician practice group has grown.

We are a group of dedicated midwives who believe in evidence based, family centred care and in the importance of keeping birth close to communities. We recognize the profound impact that each pregnancy, birth and new life brings to a family, and honor the wisdom of bodies and the importance of community based care.

Being fully integrated into the High River Maternity Clinic, working along side the family practice physicians, we offer families the opportunity to experience the art, wisdom and science of both midwifery and medicine.

We are also honoured to be working in the community of Eden Valley, offering pre- and postpartum care to families through the Eden Valley Wellness Centre as part of the perinatal care team.
